Nameservers that are being used by .it domains must meet the following criteria:

  • At least two nameservers are required.
  • The first nameserver must match the domain name's SOA record.
  • A CNAME must not be associated with the domain name.
  • An unlimited number of .it domain names can be registered by anyone who is an adult and has citizenship, residence, or commercial headquarters in the European Economic Area (EEA) countries, in the State of the Vatican, in the Republic of San Marino the Swiss Confederation.
  • The name of the nameserver specified in the SOA record must not be a CNAME.
  • The names of the authoritative nameservers for the domain name must not be CNAMEs.
  • The domain name must have at least one MX or A record.
  • Where an MX record is present it must not have an associated CNAME.
  • At the time of the search, the domain name's nameservers must be active and responsive.
  • Any nameservers indicated in the form must be authoritative for the domain name.
  • Nameservers must be recognized within the .it zone. If you have registered your own nameservers using a domain in your account, we can add the relevant out-of-zone record for you
